This is my first week of sharing what I wear to work! I’m super pumped to show everyone my style week to week and how it will most likely evolve over time. Now my work schedule is a bit unconventional—I work in journalism so if you do as well, you understand the odd, sometimes god-forsaken hours.

Right now, I work three weekdays and then Saturday and Sunday. For Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I usually dress up more and make bolder statements. As for the weekend, I am way more casual and comfy.

For week No. 1, it was all about experimentation. During the hottest months of the year, Mississippi is stifling the minute you walk out the door. And it’s easy to fall into a rut of wearing the same thing over and over again. So I decided to use my creativity and put together new looks. I also have to remind myself that I have clothes collecting dust on their hangers. And it’s blasphemous! (Those poor clothes.) So I was pretty proud of my mixing & matching, especially with textures and different hues.

Style Lesson #1: Just like my work hours, I’ve learned to be unconventional with my looks. Classic outfits such as a nice pair of trousers, a crisp white blouse and a black fitted blazer are wonderful staples. But, don’t limit yourself to just this uniform during the week. Casual outfits aren’t made for weekends only anymore, especially if you work in a relaxed environment. Mix it up and the options are truly endless!
