Style Board: Saying goodbye to summer

Hey everyone! I’ve been really busy the past couple of weeks but I’m back in action! And there’s great news too; this week I start my regular workweek schedule. After three long months of working every weekend, I am finally transitioning to a Monday through Friday work schedule.

This workweek was all about saying goodbye to summer and hopefully soon, digging out my beautiful fall items. I brightened up my week with colorful hues and interesting pattern play. But, if only the weather would say goodbye to summer as well! We’re still clocking in 98-degree weather in the Deep South and I’m just praying for sweater weather.

Here’s my office looks for the week:

I paired this oversize button-down with some skinny jeans and wedges. I have this button-down in about eight solid colors and the bright blue stripe just adds something special to a late summer ensemble.

I call this a office to night out look. This BCBG chiffon dress has thin straps and a low back, so I made it office appropriate by pairing it with a blue jersey blazer and brown braided belt. It would be so easy to transition form day to night with this look and slip on some wedges…

So I just bought this pattern bohemian dress with bell sleeves at Target. I had a $5 coupon and I couldn’t resist because it’s a great transition piece while kissing summer goodbye. I paired with a fringe necklace and a brown ankle boots.

Style Lesson #4: You don’t always have to take yourself so seriously at work! If you work in an environment that allows you to dress more casual during the week, take full advantage of it! I know I love loose button-downs and skinny jeans, but I also love wearing sleek black pants and a sharp blazer. Sometimes my mood determines my fashion sense. No matter what, it’s important to have fun, but to always dress professional.
