Why I splurged on a high-quality purse for spring

IMG_0831

Did you ever see a purse or pair of shoes and just knew that you were meant to be together? I know, I sound like Isla Fisher starring in Confessions of a Shopaholic, but I seriously can’t help myself. My favorite buy this spring is a rose quartz Italian leather bag from Banana Republic.

When it arrived on my doorstep last week, I ripped open the box to find a buttery beauty with soft suede on the sides. Yes, I’m obsessed and have been carrying it around ever since, but isn’t that the point? Too many of our belongings get pushed into the back of our closet, just waiting to come out.

It’s one of those classic bags that I’ll have for years to come and I think that’s why I always save a little extra money to buy one or two good quality bags per year. I also love how it can be used for my daily work grind, and I can pack in all my essentials: Planner, Mac charger, wallet, makeup, etc.

You can drool over/buy this bag here!

Reasons why you should splurge on a good quality bag:

It’ll last you for years to come! A bag you pay a pretty penny for is made of high-quality materials. However, I do have a price limit when it comes choosing a bag. I won’t spend over $500. I believe a good quality purse can only go so far with a price point, and I don’t have extra cash just laying around or building up in my bank account, so I want my best bang for my buck. But, the awesome thing is one can find a nice purse in the $100-$200 range.

Think cost per wear. I remember I bought a cream Marc by Marc Jacobs purse at Saks Fifth Avenue on my graduation trip to New York City. I coveted that bag, and I still do. I’ve worn it probably more times than I paid for it, and that’s how I knew that bag was worth every penny!

Customer service is awesome. When companies are selling high-quality materials, they want to make sure that the customer is getting his or her money’s worth. So if something malfunctions, they are there to fix the problem. It’s different when you buy an inexpensive bag, say, at Forever 21. The customer service just doesn’t compare!

-You’ll have a nice collection of bags you truly love. If you add one or two great bags per year, one day, you’ll have a closet full of beautiful bags to choose from. Now, granted, I still do buy inexpensive tote bags and crossbody bags that are on-trend, but my “splurge” bags are my treasures.

Here’s a sneak peek of a style post that’s going out next week where I’m showcasing my new leather tote!

Here are some affordable spring options that are great quality and are brands I trust. But, the prices are reasonable and won’t break the bank entirely. (Damsels still have to pay rent!)

Coach Crosby leather carryall in Beechwood or Cornflower

Zara Leather Tote

Longchamp “Large Le Pilage” Tote (so classic! I love the Anise, Boy Blue and Red Garance for spring.)

Tory Burch “Perry” Leather Tote

Rebecca Minkoff “Regan” Satchel  (Love the pale blush, pale lilac and limeade colors!)
