Ashton and I are heading to Birmingham this weekend to relax, rejuvenate and visit a city we’ve both never been to. I’ve created a packing list for the trip with some of my favorite fall pieces. I have to admit, it’s not easy to pack light for a fall weekend trip. Sweaters, in themselves, take up half the duffel, am I right? As for the weather, it’s going to be beautiful all weekend, high 50s during the day and high 30s at night. (Yikes!)
I’ve heard great things about Birmingham with its plethora of breweries, restaurants and hiking trails. Also, I’ve had my sights set on the city for awhile now, and I’ve considered applying for jobs there next year.
Below is my tentative packing list and what I’ll be wearing each day. My outfits are always subject to change though. Exceptions could be wearing something I purchased on the trip or just simply wearing whatever I’m in the mood for!
Friday: Stripe T-shirt + beige cardigan + maroon jeans + brown boots
Accessories: Brown leather hat, pattern scarf
Saturday (hiking): Yoga pants + black tank + jacket + tennis shoes
Accessories: Black scarf and black beanie (if weather permits)
Saturday: B&W stripe T-shirt dress + beige cardigan + brown boots
Accessories: Black tights, brown belt, black scarf, maroon hat, necklace
Sunday: Gray & beige stripe long sleeve tee + gray sweater poncho + maroon jeans + brown boots or black flats
Accessories: Brown hat or maroon beanie, necklace
Friday: Pattern maxi dress + black leather jacket + nude booties
Accessories: Brown hat, black scarf, necklace, brown belt
Saturday: Black open-back top + black cardigan + tan overcoat + black skinny jeans + nude booties
Accessories: Maroon hat, pattern scarf, statement necklace
So as you can see, I usually keep a certain color palette in mind when packing. For this trip, I stayed true to black, tan and gray with a pop of maroon and stripes! I love packing for weekend trips because it’s like creating a small wardrobe capsule. Every piece can be mixed and matched for endless outfit options. I also tend to do the same method with accessories: 2 hats, 2 beanies, 2 scarves and a few necklaces.
Look out for a new travel diaries series next week as I’ll be documenting my weekend trip in Birmingham!
