Life Update: New job, new city

Life Update: New job, new city
My mom and I enjoying the view at Tsunami restaurant in BR. We took a break from apartment hunting!

I have some exciting news, blog fam! This past month can be summed up in a single word: Whirlwind. After my family and I got back from our BVI vacation, it was zero to ninety in less than 24 hours. But I’m so excited to announce that I am moving to Baton Rouge to work for the southern clothing company, Southern Marsh! I received the job offer about a month ago, but I am just now getting around to writing a life update.

In about two weeks, I’ll be the company’s new social media content coordinator and helping the brand grow across all social media platforms.

I cannot describe to you how blessed this whole process has been for me. I finally have my foot in the door with an industry I am passionate about. The horizon is just brimming with possibilities!

The last two years haven’t been easy, and I’m glad to say I’m leaving the news media world behind. Overall, it was a great experience and prepared me for my new job, but it wasn’t something I wanted to do long term.

For the last two weeks, I’ve been apartment hunting, packing and having those last-minute lunches with coworkers and friends. My boyfriend also got a new job and will be moving the same weekend as me! Things are finally falling into place for us, and I’m so happy that time has come.

I’ve called Hattiesburg, Mississippi, home for six years. But, I believe it’s time for something different and new. Closing this chapter of my life is bittersweet, and I’m hoping the next chapter is even sweeter.

As for the blog, I have a lot of new ideas in the upcoming summer months. When I move in this weekend, I plan to add a few new decorative pieces to my apartment. So when it’s set up, I will do an apartment tour! It’s the nicest apartment I’ve ever lived in, and it has a gorgeous kitchen. I’m also so excited to explore new restaurants, events and shopping in Baton Rouge. And I can’t forget about LSU football and the friendly, vibrant people!

Cheers to new beginnings,
