Happy Friday, readers! This week was filled with my favorite things from summer essentials to a sentimental bouquet of flowers. I am finally getting back into the swing of things after the small move I had to make to another apartment. I am beginning to feel settled into a new place and have been making some small bedroom and bathroom updates.
This weekend, I’m heading to my dad’s blueberry farm in Alabama! I can’t wait to pick some juicy berries, relax in the fresh, spring air and hang out with family. I’ll be writing sort of an expose on my dad’s farm and its inner workings, so be on the lookout for that post next week!
My week consisted of working, spending three hours at the Verizon store to get a new phone (woo!) and having some much-needed couple time with my boyfriend. I started off Monday really diving into my new routine I created for myself and it seemingly all fell apart on Tuesday with just life annoyances…how does that seem to happen? I always give myself grace and promise to get back on track the following week.
Amid the usual routine, here are the five favorite things that really caught my eye this week:
Meal Prepping routine
I picked up some gorgeous asparagus from the local market and they roasted beautifully for my meals this week! They were a delicious side dish with some baked salmon and a great addition to pasta and salads.
I just added a squeeze of lemon, olive oil, salt & pepper and sprinkled on some Parmesan. I roasted them in the oven at 400° for 20 minutes.
I also whipped up some slow cooker fajitas for the week and they were a lifesaver! I had a lot of unexpected things go on this week, and I was able to have a healthy dinner ready to go regardless of my circumstances! Click here for the recipe.
Flowers from a special someone
I have to tell ya’ll something that I don’t talk about much, and that’s mainly because sometimes my relationship with my boyfriend seems too good to be true. God has truly blessed me with the sweetest boyfriend. I’m not even kidding.
I found this beautiful bouquet of flowers on my doorstep one night after work with this note. Let’s just say moving into an apartment took a toll on me mentally and physically, and Ashton definitely took notice. It was the sweetest gesture that meant so much at a time when I was trying to get back into my normal routine. He made me realize that simple reminders like this can truly turn someone’s week around! Thank you, Ashton 🙂
Simple apartment updates
I have wanted to update my bedroom decor for awhile now. I haven’t really added any new items to my room since college. I found these adorable throw pillows at TJ Maxx for an amazing price, of course! I’ve never understood why throw pillows are so expensive….the same goes for swimsuits. haha. I also plan to buy new curtains for my room as well! Ultimately, I’m going to for chic French farmhouse decor.
Essential oils obsession
Guys, I never win anything. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve won something in my life. So when I received a text saying that I had won a free essential oil from my yoga studio, I was so excited! I met with a wellness advocate for doTERRA essential oils and I was hooked instantly. I’m really surprised I’m just now discovering the benefits of these oils. I received the wild orange for free and just bought the peppermint to mix with it. The breathe blend has done wonders for my daily allergies.
I will be posting more about these soon! Also, I just bought this adorable handmade trinket dish from Anthropologie. I’m obsessed!
New summer staples
Do you know how hard it is to find the perfect, good quality button-down that fits like a glove? I finally found mine…and I loved it so much that I bought it in another color. This Cloth & Stone button-down found at Anthropologie is a great length and it’s made beautifully. And it’s on sale right now + an extra 30 percent off!
I also got this Sun Valley tote bag from Free People for my beach trip next weekend! I can’t wait to tote around all my beach essentials.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! I’ll be up to my elbows in blueberries and sunshine. 🙂
