My favorite things | April 22

Happy Earth Day, readers! Thank God it’s Friday, right? This upcoming weekend has been on my mind since Monday. My boyfriend and I are heading to New Orleans for Jazz Fest! This is my first time going to Jazz Fest, and we are meeting my best friend, Mary, and her boyfriend down there for some much-needed hangout time. I can’t wait to soak up some sun, taste all the amazing food vendors and sway to this weekend’s headliner, Pearl Jam.

But before we pack our bags and get into festival mode, here’s the five things I’m crushing on this week!

Daily Gratitudes journal & A Study on Psalm 119

I received both of these books for my birthday, one from my best friend and the other from a church growth group leader. I love when people take the time to give thoughtful gifts because it means so much more! I love cracking open the Daily Gratitudes Journal and writing down the good moments in my life and the things I’m thankful for every day. It really puts things in perspective when I’m feeling down in the dumps.

The study on Psalm 119 is wonderful because I can read the longest psalm in the Bible piece by piece and really understand it. You can find these mini Bible study books on Kristin Schmucker’s website. Isn’t the design so cute too?

New recipe staple: Greek Harissa chicken

I saw this chicken marinade recipe on one of my favorite websites last week! The marinade looked easy to put together because it only had simple ingredients: cilantro, parsley, jalapeno, lemon juice, garlic and olive oil. And let me tell you, this chicken recipe is packed with flavor! It’s a great staple to make in a pinch and serve with quinoa and veggies, on a salad or with pasta.

And I plan to make the other two marinades they mentioned—cocunut curry chicken and citrusy chipotle chicken. YUM!

Favorite lace-up heels and wide-brimmed hat

Ashton has an unhealthy obsession with the Jazz Fest headliner this weekend—Pearl Jam. He’s probably watched the band’s documentary a million times and has also bought the same shoes that Eddie Vedder wears. Let’s just say he’ll be dressed in 90’s grunge while I’m donning my short festival dress and wide-brimmed hat. haha!

I found this hat at Nordstrom rack a couple week ago, and I can’t wait to debut it this weekend. I also plan to wear these lace-up wedges if we go grab a drink or two after the shows.

New candle from Anthropologie

Every time I step into Anthropologie, I’m in heaven. The smells, the clothes, the decor—everything is just beautiful.  But of course, I made the mistake of going in there when I only had  $20 to spend. So when that happens, I either buy a candle or a small decor item to fulfill my Anthropologie need. Seriously, it’s a problem! This candle smells AMAZING and they had about three other scents by the same brand.

Favorite new jam

This song is currently on repeat during my work commute!

Have a memorable weekend everyone! Soak up those two days before the five-day workweek begins again. I know I will be!
