Chic transitional look + September thoughts

October is just around the corner, and it’s hot as you-know-what in Baton Rouge! I thought this chic look would still be appropriate for the early fall weather here. I’m dreaming of scarves and boots, but instead I’m wearing a chunky cardigan to work, and then tying it around my waist as I leave for my lunch break to go buy a pumpkin spice latte. And yeah, I’m sweating. *sigh* Oh well, fall will come soon enough! A girl can dream.

I seriously love this outfit because it’s unexpected and transitional for this time of year. This long striped cardigan from Cabi’s spring collection is a statement piece I plan to wear into the cooler months. And it pairs so nicely with this sky blue skort and simple cami. I wore this for a casual lunch date, but this could definitely work for dinner with a pair of chunky heels or suede mules.

And this BAG, oh my. It was love at first sight! This blush color goes with almost everything in my closet, and is my go-to everyday bag. The blush color is no longer in stock, but they have some beautiful colors for fall.

So ya’ll might have noticed that I’ve been offline for awhile. Well, at least for my blog. I’ve had a hard time finding my groove again and diving into writing in my personal life. When you have a job in a creative field, it’s hard to find that balance off-duty with creative projects! But the benefits far outweigh  the difficulties, and it’s a great excuse to wear cute outfits all time. (Can I get an amen, somebody?)

Even though sometimes I feel like just giving up altogether with my blog, I remember how fun it used be. Shouldn’t it always be that way? Isn’t that the whole point? A creative outlet to come to and just let the words flow. To encourage others trying out the same thing. Or are we discouraged by the number of posts that show up when you type in #lifestyleblogger on Instagram?

Everyone wants to be heard. But, if you’re not doing it for you, who are you doing it for then?

Alright, I’ll get off my soap box for now!

September Thoughts:

-How in the heck are Trader Joe’s K-Cup pods so cheap? $4.99 a box. All I have to say is “thank the Lord” for that place. I was about to start having to drink coffee every other morning. Phew, that wouldn’t be pretty.

//

-A pair of slipper flats I’ve been obsessing over from Madewell.

My thoughts while purchasing…

They’re on sale. // These will add to my new & improved casual chic wardrobe. // They are a neutral, so they will go with everything.

I sound so basic right now. But I’ll make sure to snap an Instagram pic for ya’ll.

//

-My boyfriend is also pretty basic too, just FYI. But that’s why I adore him.

Take a text conversation 2 weeks ago as I’m waiting in line at church for coffee:

Me: Ordered my first PSL of the season!

Him: …got my first one ever last week 🙂

Me: Omg you’re worse than me.

//

-Waking up at 6:30 a.m. will never get easy for me. As an adult, my body wakes up at 7:30 or 8 a.m. But 6:30? After pressing the snooze button too many times, I walk to the kitchen and magically make coffee somehow. And then it’s on the couch to spend time with the Lord. Yeah, he makes those early mornings 10X better.
