Long time no see, everyone! Life’s crazy with work, busy weekends traveling and adjusting to a new routine.
One of the biggest obstacles is figuring out a new workout routine. Recently, I find myself on the couch more than in the gym or outside getting some good ole Vitamin C. Not a good sign! For a month or so, I paid $30 to try a hot yoga studio near my job. I absolutely loved it. But on most nights, I got home late after work and had zero time to do anything. Yoga studios are also pricey, so I had to find an alternative that would work with my monthly budget.
This is where Aaptiv comes into play, literally. The workout app has audio exercise classes like running, elliptical, fast walking, yoga, meditation and more. You have coaches for the classes, and they motivate you throughout the workout.
At first, I thought it was kind of strange to have a random person talking in my ear as I ran down the pavement by my apartment complex. But after about 15 minutes of huffing and puffing, I definitely needed some #motivation.

My favorite classes so far:
“Let’s Go Steady” – Intermediate Tempo Run (about 26 minutes)
This was the first class I tried during my trial! I’ll admit, in this season of my life, I haven’t felt my best physically. So, this 26-minute workout was exactly what I needed to push me. You maintain a steady jogging pace throughout and then transition into a tempo run. I was sweating bullets by the time I was done, but I felt incredible. I enjoyed my coach telling me to keep going and to “remember my intention” for the workout.
“Better in Six” – Intermediate Walk + Jog + Run (about 28 minutes)
“Better in Six” is a great after-work or school run because you can relieve some major stress with the different intervals. During the last 10 minutes, I was full-out running and listening to some intense electronic beats. It really got me pumped up!
“Tight Hip Fix” – Intermediate Lower Body Flow (About 16 minutes)
I was born with tight hips. And I also sit in an office chair and type on a computer most days. So those two put together gives me the “tightest hips syndrome.” I also slightly injured my hip after training for my first half-marathon. This class eases all those tight spaces that need some extra loving. I would recommend this yoga session right before bed or right when you wake up!
“EMOM Core Work” – Beginner core workout (Just 8 minutes!)
Ok, this class is just crazy! What I’m saying is it basically kicked my *you know what.* EMOM stands for “every minute on the minute,” not some obscure EDM band. So you do ab exercises for a minute and then rest for 30 seconds and then start again. I love getting in a quick, effective workout, so this is my new go-to.
“End of Day Reflection” – Beginner Meditation (About 6 minutes)
I used to meditate quite frequently, but I got out of the habit once I moved. This Aaptiv meditation class is great because it’s only 6 minutes and has a wonderful message. It talks about leaving behind everything that happened today, and starting a fresh day tomorrow. When I’m stressed or having anxiety, meditation really gives me clarity and calms my thoughts.

Aaptiv also keeps track of your classes & your all-time stats (miles, minutes and calories). You can also filter among beginner, intermediate or advances classes.
Look, this app makes working out fun. And you know what else is awesome? A majority of the workouts are less than 30 minutes. And you have a coach to motivate you through the whole thing.
So really, what’s my excuse for not working out most days? I don’t have any!
Aaptiv is offering a free 7-day trial for all its new registered members! Head over to this link to start your trial and download the app. Let me know if you’ve tried Aaptiv or any similar workout apps!
