4 ways to refresh your winter style

The year is young, my friends! And a day older than the last three years. This means we have one more day to be stylish this year. Am I right? I hope so! I am getting a head-start on revamping my wardrobe. Even though I have a lot of great pieces in my closet, I want to take every day looks one step further.

My style motto for this year: Be bold with your looks in 2016!

Here are four of my favorite winter pieces and how I used simple tips to refresh my personal style.

Winter Favorite No. 1: LBD

Let’s be real—the little black dress is a year-round staple for many of us, but it needs to be revamped from season to season. For this look, I let my statement pieces shine and kept the ensemble simple with a leather Moto jacket. Isn’t this necklace fabulous?! I got it for Christmas and I’m in love.

The look:

  • LBD | Sobo Boutique in Pensacola
  • Leather Moto jacket | Anthropologie
  • Statement necklace | Zara
  • Heels | Very Volatile (from Selphi in Hattiesburg)

Winter Favorite No. 2: Dark prints

I love a chic, sassy office look and this one hits right on the money. I love mixing a bold print with a more subtle print. It’s so fun and feminine! And the slate gray blazer ties everything together for a polished work outfit.

The look:

  • Mini polka-dot blouse | H&M
  • Floral A-line skirt | H&M
  • Slate gray blazer | Forever 21
  • Necklace | Ann Taylor Loft
  • Black wedges | Sobo Boutique in Pensacola

Winter Favorite No. 3: Layering tops

Layering is my go-to style when I’m in a hurry to be somewhere. It’s comfortable no doubt and easy to mix and match. Here I layered in an unexpected way with a long ruffle slip under a light oversize sweater. I love the contrast and the metallic scarf matches beautifully!

The look:

  • Ruffle slip | Free People
  • Oversize sweater | Ann Taylor Loft
  • Leggings | Loft
  • Scarf | Loft
  • Boots | Lucky Brand
  • Watch | Fossil

Winter Favorite No. 4: Oversize sweater

When a cold snap comes, there’s nothing more I love than slipping on a big, chunky knit sweater. And sometimes it’s okay to be matchy-matchy with your looks. Here, my gold jeans are the same color as the stripe in my sweater. It’s a subtle way to match if you are not a fan of bold matching hues.

The look:

  • Fair Isle sweater | Cabi
  • Gold jeans | Cabi
  • Knit beanie | Forever 21
  • Boots | Anthropologie

Remember, dare to be different in 2016 and take your looks to the next level! What are your winter wardrobe favorites?
