Basics are the skeleton of your closet. And without them, you are swimming in a sea of “orphan” clothes. Time and time again, you stand in your closet, stumped on what to wear and frustrated with the fact that nothing goes together.
For me, I am drawn to fun bohemian clothes and bright colored prints, but they aren’t always practical and can’t take me from season to season. I’ve had to train myself to buy more basics because you need a good foundation before you build a house right? The same thing goes for your wardrobe.
TGIF, ladies! I’m heading to a bachelorette party this weekend for one of my good college friends. But, first: a dose of personal style from yours truly.
The weather here is still stubborn as ever, so I take advantage of the days when it’s chilly outside. This cream cable-knit sweater is one of my winter favorites. It’s from Cabi’s 2016 fall collection, and it has beautiful detail on the back. The lace-up and chiffon detail makes the sweater so feminine and romantic. It’s a classic silhouette with a twist!
Cabi debuted its 2017 spring collection a few weeks ago, and it’s my favorite spring collection so far! Neutrals and stripes take center stage in this line, and there are so many beautiful prints. The collection bears the famous French phrase, “Je ne sais qoui” and is inspired by the French Riviera. So basically, there is something super special about this collection that has you saying, “I just don’t know what it is about it,” but you’ll know it when you see it.
Since last fall, Cabi’s collections have become more cohesive, and they have great basics that pair back to your wardrobe. When I went home to help my mom unpack the collection (she’s a Cabi stylist), my wishlist was a mile long. How can it not be? Cabi’s clothes are so stinking cute and pair well with many other pieces in my closet! I’m also a navy fanatic, so that didn’t help either.
I’ve felt really out of balance lately. Have you felt the same way? Life happens, and you get busy. And then before you know it, things can spiral out of control. It’s normal to many, but it’s a problem when you let it rob your daily joy.
Let me tell you a short story of how I recently spiraled into an unbalanced black hole.
Thank God it’s Friday ya’ll! Now, it’s time for a healthy dose of fashion and personal style.
Look I don’t think I will ever get used to the strange weather patterns in Mississippi. Yesterday, it was warm and sunny, and today it was rainy and freezing cold. So in this unpredictable climate, layering is a must. I love the classic look of denim and denim. For this look, I paired a denim ensemble with a wool camel sweater coat (my favorite coat!) and some trendy lace-up sandals.
