2015 fall trends I love

The runway shows for fall 2015 were looking fierce with interesting new trends to inspire us to spice up our work and play wardrobes. Although I’m not a fan of following trends season to season, I do enjoy incorporating some new trends into my wardrobe.

Being “on trend” doesn’t really make a lot of sense to me because if we always bought on-trend pieces, our wardrobe wouldn’t flow and evolve into our personal style. We would just have a lot of mix-and-match pieces that aren’t functional for our everyday lives. And that doesn’t help out our wallets or getting dressed in the morning.

Different seasons in our lives make for different wardrobes whether it be a 9-to-5er, a college student or a retired person traveling the world. So for each season, I always choose a few trends that I think would complement my staple pieces in my closet and go with it! Here are the ones I’m crushing on hard for fall 2015.

2015 fall trends—WORK

The necktie blouse was all over the runways this year and I’m a huge fan of the throwback trend. I have these gray trousers from Cabi and they would go perfectly with a ladylike blouse like the bush-colored one seen here. I’d pair it with simple nude heels and a maroon purse to add some serious contrast.

This hue was painted all over the catwalk—gray. And no, gray doesn’t have to be bleak! It’s actually super chic when paired with different textures and hues such as leather and maroon. The sleek gray dress, paired with black tights and maroon booties could actually take anyone from day to night. No need to change for the evening with the hubby or an outing with friends!

Make sure to add a fringe bag for bohemian flair. From the runways to fashion magazines, fringe was seen everywhere this season. Even when the fringe isn’t the star of an outfit, it still adds a playful touch. These two outfits scream modern and are ideal for the autumn weekday wardrobe.

2015 fall trends—PLAY

Fur is still huge this season and why wouldn’t it be? It’s chic and makes a bold statement. For an evening out with friends or family, pair a bohemian blouse with a fur vest and skinny jeans. Bohemia was also big on the catwalk, even though bohemian dresses and peasant blouses are always a staple in my closet.

Another growing trend is the playsuit or the jumpsuit. I would say we could dub this piece as a wardrobe staple. The full-bodied suit has been popular in many stores for years, so I think this trend is here to stay. It’s a great, versatile piece to dress up or down. I adorned this black jumpsuit with the Cabi twilight Moto jacket, a jade-colored purse and sassy studded heels. As you can see, I added gray touches for a head-to-toe sophisticated, yet fashion-forward look.

One reason I like certain trends is because it inspires me. It’s important to remember that dressing up is exciting and playful. And adding new, cheerful pieces to the wardrobe every season is a way to spice up your staples. So get inspired with the art of dressing up!
